To prevent instances in which a fraudster may attempt to reroute a package from the verified address, ensure your shipping provider and/or your customer service team will not allow for any changes to the customer's shipping address without confirming that it is safe to ship the order to the new address. This includes having a customer reroute their package for pickup at a UPS location or other general forwarding entity. NoFraud can then screen the order with the new address once it is entered into the NoFraud portal.
When a customer needs to update their address on their order, you can edit and resubmit a new transaction with the updated shipping information.
Some other good practices to reduce chargebacks due to friendly fraud are:
-
Use a recognizable billing descriptor — Otherwise, customers may not remember the charge and where it came from and issue a chargeback.
-
Track orders from placement to delivery — This can assist with providing evidence that the order was delivered.
-
Describe products in detail — This prevents complaints that the order received was different than what was expected.
-
Develop a strong returns policy — It is recommended to make the policy as detailed and clear as possible.
-
Process refunds as quickly as possible — Eliminate the "refund took too long” claims.
