NoFraud recommends that merchants disable their gateway fraud filters once NoFraud is active on their store and screening their orders.
Below, we will detail how to disable your fraud filters on several of the popular payment gateways. Keep in mind, some of the platforms listed here may have updated their system and/or the process for disabling gateway filters. If you are unable to disable your filters with these instructions, or you don't see your specific gateway listed here, please contact your gateway provider directly or visit their Help Center for assistance.
What Are Gateway Fraud Filters?
Fraud filters are transaction rules that you can toggle on/off in your gateway settings portal. Although these fraud filters are occasionally helpful to merchants, we recommend disabling them due to the more comprehensive level of screening NoFraud provides and the frequency in which gateway filters block legitimate transactions that NoFraud would Pass.
For example, a very basic fraud filter would be to block all transactions that fail shipping address verification (i.e. AVS-negative). However, because data shows that nearly 92% of orders placed with an unverified shipping address are still legitimate, enabling this gateway filter would block far more legitimate orders than fraudulent ones. Thus, use this guide to disable fraud filters in your gateway's portal.
Disable Shopify Pay Fraud Filters
Shopify offers only two fraud filters, AVS and CVV. You can locate and disable these filters (as shown below) in your Shopify dashboard in Settings > Payments > Shopify Pay > Manage > Fraud prevention. Simply uncheck the two filters and hit Save.
Disable Authorize.net Fraud Filters
Within the Auth.net account dashboard, the fraud filters are located in Tools > Fraud Detection Suite:
You'll want to set each rule/filter to Disabled as shown in the image(s) below. Alternatively, we do recommend you set the Hourly Velocity Filter to trigger at 20:
